Expressions of interest from rugby league players with Portuguese background with a view of establishing a junior development squad. Players aged 13-16 are required. Too qualify players must

(1) be the holder of a Portuguese birth certificate

(2) be the holder of a Portuguese passport

(3) have either Portuguese parent or grandparent

The junior development squad will play against local, development and international teams.

It is hoped junior development teams and programs will be established in Australia and Portugal.

In Australia, the aim is to establish a team to participate in the Youth Cup played in Sydney from 2009.

In Portugal, the Portuguese Rugby League is keen to play a weekend tournament that serves purpose to establish a team that qualifies to participate in the European Nations Youth Championships.

The weekend tournament in Portugal will be played during the off-season of the rugby union, June the most likely month. Invitation is open to any rugby league player that meets the qualification criteria.
